Never be erased ♥

Sabbath Day

It's almost 10pm now n I just got back. I had on call from morning till 9pm today, my 2nd on call of the week. I's wondering...will I get punished by God if I can't go to the church on Sabbath day? Will the doctors go to hell if they can't turn up in the church on Sunday coz they have to take care of hundreds of patients in the hospital? Will heaven refuse them if they're not holy but they save hundreds, possibly thousands of people every year? So many queries yet to be answered n will never be answered. Priests, pastors and some self-proclaimed holy man can't give a definite yes-or-no answer. They'll twist n turn, beat around the bush and tell me to make my own conclusion. Rubbish answers.

Sitting down after spending about 10 hours in the ward on a Sunday, my mind doesn't want me 2 do anything else besides going online, probably looking for Herbert in Aberdeen to play 1 or 2 games of DOTA to encourage globalization. Hiding my stethoscope is the best thing that I can do now. I dun wanna look at that shit for at least 12 hours or I'll go into depression.

Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer that metastasized to his lungs and abdomen but he survived and won another Tour de France. It's a great story of survival, how one person could fight to survive after an illness that could have easily taken his life away. Today, I talked to an 80-year-old man who survived after multiple fatal illnesses during the 80 years of life. I alwez believe that medicine alone does not safe a person without the person's strong will of surviving. Today, my thought was proven right. This man had angina n high blood pressure for 25 years, achalasia cardia 30 years ago, had cataract removed from both eyes, n had a pacemaker implant this year. Most strikingly, he survived a stroke 4 years ago n he had been successfully resuscitated from cardiac arrest for 7 times. 7 times, frens. When was the last time u saw the doctors successfully resuscitated a patient with cardiac arrest in Grey's Anatomy?

"I've lost him 7 times, but I got him back..."

His wife was telling me this. His wife took care of him meticulously since he had a hemiparalysis due to stroke, n fought really hard for a pacemaker implant for his atrial fibrillation. She told me the whole story of how she fought for a pacemaker 2 ensure that his husband could survive this disaster. I was impressed. I was struck by how much someone can do for the person he or she loves. Again, it's amazing.

It's a story that I'll remember for a long long time. He looked at me into the eyes, with tears rolling in his eyes, n said...

"This is a miracle, Justin..."
